About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our team on a 6-month contract basis. This remote position is based in the UK and offers an exciting opportunity to work with a forward-thinking organization that values technical excellence and innovation. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and scaling mission-critical applications that handle large volumes of data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development, with proficiency in either Python or Java, and hands-on experience with modern cloud-native technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and Kafka. Your role will involve participating in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from system design and architecture to implementation, testing, and deployment. You will also be expected to contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the team. Qualifications The successful candidate will possess a combination of technical skills and practical experience, including:

• Significant commercial experience in backend software engineering, with a proven track record of delivering scalable and reliable systems
• Advanced proficiency in Python or Java programming languages
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker
• Strong understanding of system architecture, design patterns, and microservices principles
• Experience working with large-scale, data-intensive applications
• Familiarity with Kafka, Cassandra, gRPC, and other related technologies is highly advantageous
• Experience in agile development environments, with a product-driven mindset
• Open-source contributions or involvement in developer communities are a plus
