Title: Mechanical Designer III
Location: Remote
Duration: 12+ month contract
Schedule: M-F 8-5 EST (must be okay working EST hours)
Description:
o The I&C cabinet and chassis designer works within the I&C Technology team and is responsible for designing and implementing supporting structures to mount I&C electronic hardware for safety related systems at Nuclear Power Plants. The I&C Technology team has strong interfaces with electronic hardware design and qualification testing teams. This role requires technical problem solving, strong design skills, understanding of codes and standards, and effective communication/collaboration with other teams within the company's business functions.
Essential Responsibilities:
o Design and develop mechanical systems and components control system chassis and cabinets used in Nuclear Power Plants.
o Perform analysis and testing to ensure mechanical systems meet performance standards and safety regulations.
o Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, reports, and manuals.
o Provide maintenance support and troubleshoot mechanical issues to ensure continuous and efficient operation of systems.
o Ensure all mechanical designs and installations comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
o Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with electrical engineers, civil engineers, and other stakeholders.
o Utilize engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, and MATLAB for design and analysis tasks.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
o Strong analytical and problem solving skills to address complex mechanical engineering challenges.
o High ethical standards and integrity in professional conduct.
Requirements:
o Minimum 5+ years of 3D Cad Modeling in related field.
o Bachelor's Degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering degree from an accredited college of university.
o Experience with coding conventions, unit testing and integration testing of control cabinets and chassis.
o Proven experience in mechanical design and project execution.
o Experience with maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
o Proficiency in engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor.
o Strong, broad knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
o Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
o Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
