Product Designer – Volta Connect

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the design vision of a brand-new platform democratising interactive audience experiences for live events and beyond. You’ll play a key role in shaping a high-impact product from early stages through public launch.

Volta is a UK SME specialising in cutting-edge 3D, XR, and real-time rendering technology. We develop innovative tools like Volta Create, which democratises real-time visual creation, and have delivered bespoke audience engagement solutions for clients such as TED, Microsoft and the Australian Open. Our mission is to standardise interactive infrastructure across all forms of entertainment.

Volta Connect is an all-in-one platform making audience interactivity at live events easy and accessible through a no-code tool for creating interactive experiences.

The role

As our founding Product Designer for Volta Connect, you’ll own the end-to-end user experience: from initial research through polished, production-ready designs. This will include:

• Translating insights and requirements gathered from market, behavioural, technical, and user research, including best practices, surveys, accessibility studies, and focus groups, into increasingly high-fidelity design concepts.
• Designing the high-level UI/UX for the Volta Connect platform.
• Conducting technical validation of designs to ensure feasibility and inform development planning.
• Planning and executing user testing sessions with prototypes, gathering feedback from both the creators using Volta Connect and the audience members interacting with content made via the platform.
• Working iteratively within an Agile development workflow, collaborating closely with research, development, and testing teams across project sprints.

Ideal Candidate

You are likely to have experience with:

• Designing complex UI/UX for software applications, creative tools, drag-and-drop editors, or no-code platforms.
• Creating user-facing interfaces for live events, entertainment, or other interactive experiences.
• Planning and conducting user testing, usability studies, and incorporating feedback into design iterations.
• Applying human-centered design principles to product development, balancing user needs with technical feasibility.
• Designing for accessibility and inclusivity across diverse user groups and use cases.
• Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams — including developers, researchers, and product managers — within an Agile development environment.

Criteria

• Proven ability to deliver high-quality and user-centered UI/UX designs.
• Proficiency with industry-standard design and prototyping tools.
• Strong portfolio showcasing relevant design work, ideally including examples of complex interface design or interactive experiences.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Commitment to accessibility and inclusive design across diverse user groups.
• Ability to translate research findings and technical constraints into practical design solutions.
• A passion for immersive experiences, live events, or interactive technology is a significant advantage.

Location

The current team is distributed across the UK with a loose base in London. This role is fully remote, with occasional in-person meetings in London.

Start date

Ideally starting 1st June, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.

Salary

Compensation will reflect experience and will include equity in the company based on a standard vesting schedule.
