Senior Technical Writer - Remote

Job DescriptionDo you love crafting the clearest terms, framing, and explanations for a technical audience?Do you enjoy improving a user's software experience?Join our Writing team! We create customer-facing content for users, builders, and developers working with Akamai's security products and platforms. Our content assists both users and developers working with Akamai products, and specialize in UI text, in-product user assistance, product documentation, and API/Developer materials. Help us create best-in-class documentation As a Senior Technical Writer you'll collaborate with a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Engineers, Architects, and UX Designers to write high-quality content for web security solutions and features. This role will drive documentation projects through the complete development cycle. As a Senior Technical Writer, you will be responsible for:

• Collaborating on UI content design to find apt labels and helpful on-screen guidance
• Learning and mastering Akamai's documentation tools, methods, and delivery mechanisms as the work requires
• Developing comprehensive reference documentation for developer tools like APIs, CLIs, and SDKs
• Understanding user goals and working with cross-functional teams to scope the user experience deliverables.
• Following Akamai's technical communications guidelines
• Advocating for user needs in product design, ensuring documentation aligns to real-world use cases and follows user-centered design principles

Do What You Love To be successful in this role you will:

• Have a Bachelor's Degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, or another related field or its equivalent
• Possess excellent communication and writing skills in English
• Have demonstrated experience writing for a technical audience working in security, networking, or software development
• Have knowledge of web protocols, networking, web application firewalls, and other technologies
• Share existing writing samples demonstrating your excellence in crafting UI text, product documentation, and API references
• Have experience documenting APIs and a solid understanding of Markdown and GIT
• Have analytical skills to process complex technical information and the desire to learn new skills

For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $74,700 - $155,300/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
