Job Description
Posted on: November 4, 2025
Department: Information Technology Location: US-California-Remote Description Align Technology is looking for a creative and detail-oriented UX Design- Contractor to join our Platform Experience (PEX) Design team. In this role, you’ll help bring warmth, clarity, and craft to our platform visuals. Exploring how visual storytelling and refined styling can make our experiences more engaging and human. You’ll collaborate closely with the team to work within the existing Align Design System (ADS) while exploring opportunities for visual enhancement. Helping define potential themes, illustrative directions, and stylistic refinements that can evolve our design language over time. This part-time, short-term contract is ideal for a designer with strong graphic and visual design skills who’s excited to apply artistry within a structured product environment. Role expectations
- Contribute to visual design exploration within the constraints of the existing ADS, proposing creative ways to introduce more warmth, texture, and character into Align’s digital ecosystem.
- Collaborate with senior designers to refresh dashboards, style guides, and documentation visuals, improving clarity and visual appeal without breaking system consistency.
- Create illustrations, icons, and visual assets that enhance storytelling and usability across multiple platforms (desktop, mobile, and scanner interfaces).
- Support style refinement efforts, adding creative flair and polish to areas currently limited by minimal or clinical UI patterns.
- Help document visual patterns and contribute to the ongoing visual evolution of ADS in Figma.
- Partner cross-functionally with design and engineering to ensure new visual elements maintain accessibility, performance, and design integrity
What We're Looking For
- Strong foundation in graphic design, color theory, and composition, with an eye for storytelling through visuals.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Figma.
- Ability to balance creative expression with system constraints, knowing when to explore and when to align.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with openness to feedback and iteration.
- A proactive, independent working style suited for part-time, remote collaboration.
Work Arrangement
- This is a part-time contract (under 40 hours/week) running mid-November through December 30, 2025.
- Extension may be considered based on project needs, fit, and available budget.
- The contractor may work remotely but is expected to collaborate during standard office hours. Optional on-site access to the San Jose office is available at the contractor’s own expense.
