The AI Marketing Automation Lead is a hands-on contract role focused on building and extending an internal AI tool that automates predictable, repetitive marketing work for client's Marketing go-to-market team. This individual will design and implement the tool’s automation and validation, identify and investigate issues, and add new use cases and functionality over the course of the engagement.

This is an experienced individual contributor role. You’ll build and deploy AI-driven solutions that expand what the broader marketing team can do and extend existing capabilities for marketers. Solutions should be straightforward to maintain and easy to explain to a non-technical audience.

  • Website / Ecommerce experience with User Acceptance Testing and validation
  • Strong written skills (documentation)

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience building and shipping software, automation, or AI-driven tools
  • Experience designing and implementing automation and validation strategies
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated scripts or workflows to reduce repetitive manual work
  • Hands-on experience building with AI tooling, such as LLM-based applications, AI coding assistants, or AI automation platforms
  • Experience evaluating build versus buy decisions for AI tools and determining the right architecture for this type of tool
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining technical work to non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

  • Design and document processes and procedures to ensure the tool operates within defined requirements
  • Implement automation, test plans, and validation strategies for the tool
  • Develop and maintain automation that reduces repetitive, manual marketing processes such as CTAs, phone numbers, and buy flows
  • Identify and investigate issues found during testing and use, and resolve them
  • Onboard new marketing use cases and add functionality, prioritized with the product owner
  • Work closely with the product owner, marketing stakeholders, and supporting engineers to align on requirements and resolve issues
  • Deploy and host the tool so it is available for broader use
  • Keep clear documentation so the tool can be supported or handed off later

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying AI or automation to marketing teams or marketing operations
  • Experience building and maintaining internal tools end to end
  • Experience working across marketing, product, and engineering teams
  • Experience identifying and investigating issues and improving process quality
