About the Role

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and development of electrical systems and products for offsite manufactured solutions, construction products, and architectural manufactured products.

The engineer will develop detailed electrical designs, layouts, models, and documentation while applying Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) principles. This role works closely with manufacturing, product development, project management, customers, vendors, and engineering consultants to develop solutions that are safe, code-compliant, manufacturable, and aligned with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design electrical product details using DfMA principles.
  • Develop detailed electrical layouts, drawings, schematics, and 3D models for offsite manufactured products and systems.
  • Support the development of electrical systems for modular, prefabricated, and manufactured construction solutions.
  • Collaborate with customers, architects, engineers, manufacturing teams, and vendors to develop electrical design solutions.
  • Review designs for compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, contract documents, and project specifications.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, architectural, and manufacturing disciplines.
  • Participate in prototype development, testing, quality reviews, and design validation.
  • Identify design improvements related to manufacturability, reliability, quality, cost, and installation efficiency.
  • Work with manufacturing teams to ensure electrical manufacturing and assembly processes maintain design integrity.
  • Partner with Program Managers to understand customer requirements and support new product development.
  • Develop or utilize Python, C#, VB.NET, or similar scripting tools to automate repetitive engineering and design tasks.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and design records.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering process optimization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of electrical design engineering experience.
  • Experience with electrical systems/products used in construction, offsite manufacturing, modular construction, electrical skids, HVAC systems, or similar engineered products.
  • Experience creating and interpreting electrical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency with relevant CAD/MCAD/design software, such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, CAD MEP, Rhino, or similar.
  • Familiarity with Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or BIM 360.
  • Basic programming/scripting knowledge using Python, C#, VB.NET, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of design coordination and manufacturing requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, engineering consultants, and internal teams.

Preferred Experience

  • Offsite/modular construction or prefabrication.
  • Electrical skids or packaged systems.
  • Product development and prototyping.
  • Construction and manufacturing environments.
  • Electrical code compliance and design coordination.
  • Continuous improvement and design automation.
