The Role
As a Technical Lead here at Coviu your responsibilities will include:
- Partner with Product to scope and design efficient technical solutions to deliver on the desired customer and business outcomes
- Drive the squad’s productivity and velocity whilst ensuring high technical quality, and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement
- Lead, mentor, and coach engineers to support their continued technical and career growth
- Proactively identify and resolve issues that could impact squad outcomes, ensuring smooth and on-time delivery
- Evaluate, prioritise, and allocate tasks based on business value, effort, and input from Product and other stakeholders
- Participate in the release management process including Product releases.
- Participate in incident management, and associated on-call requirements dependent on the situation.
- Undertake other duties and responsibilities as required.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years in a Technical Lead, Engineering Manager, or senior engineering role at a fast-growing SaaS or tech company
- Solid background as a Full Stack Engineer, with a degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- Expertise in backend systems and large-scale data, with strong skills in PostgreSQL and MongoDB
- Proficiency in JavaScript, particularly Node.js, React, and TypeScript (or similar typed systems)
- Skilled in building high-quality, testable, and maintainable code with strong attention to detail
- Experience with Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and package management systems
- Hands-on experience deploying systems to production on AWS, including zero-downtime deployments
- Proven experience leading and managing a small team of engineers, including mentoring, coaching, and providing feedback
- Ability to set technical direction, make architectural decisions, and balance trade-offs between speed, scalability, and maintainability
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience working closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders
- Proven track record of outcome based delivery, including driving projects end-to-end, ensuring timely delivery against outcomes while maintaining quality standards and managing risk
- Commitment to fostering a collaborative team culture, promoting coding standards, and continuous improvement.
You might also have:
- Experience working on integration projects using HTTP APIs
- Exposure to using OAuth 2.0 and SAML 2.0 for authentication and authorisation
- Experience with using LLMs (AI) for enhancing developer productivity, and/or delivering customer facing experiences
- Familiarity with BI and reporting tools
- Knowledge of functional programming languages (e.g. Scala) and experience with HubSpot’s API for business reporting
- Exposure to observability tooling, as well as WebRTC and associated APIs
