We're a fully remote organization with 11 teammates (soon to be 12 👋), including Engineering, Compliance, Operations, Growth, Product, and Customer Success teams. We're headquartered in the Boston area, and our team spans Canada, the US, India, Nigeria, Egypt and Pakistan.

About the Role

We're looking for a remote Senior Product Designer to own and evolve the product and brand experience of a fast-growing American fintech startup from the ground up.

In this role, you'll design the screens, flows, and systems that real people rely on to manage their families' financial futures — while also serving as the creative force behind marketing visuals, social content, and brand storytelling across every touchpoint. Product design is the primary focus, but this role doesn't stay in one lane.

Until now, design has been ad-hoc and engineering-led, with the CEO, COO, and engineers filling the gaps. That changes with you. You'll be the first full-time designer on the team — you're inheriting a foundation, but the system, the process, and the creative direction are yours to define. Alongside the Fractional CPO, you'll establish a design-forward process that puts the user at the center and gives the product the visual coherence it needs. The scope is real and the ownership is genuine.

Our IDEAL CANDIDATE brings 4-6+ years of experience in product and brand design, with a strong portfolio of end-to-end UI/UX work across web and mobile that feels native to North American audiences — clean, trustworthy, and contemporary. You obsess over the details that others miss: the radius on a button, the bounce on a loading screen, the moment a transition earns trust. You bring the same level of craft to a complex onboarding flow and an Instagram carousel, and you naturally become the guardian of visual quality across the organization.

Performance Metrics: Your performance will be measured by on-time delivery against sprint commitments, quality and consistency of visual output, reduction in design iteration cycles, brand coherence across digital touchpoints, and the strength of cross-functional collaboration.

Reporting Structure: You'll collaborate with the Fractional CPO, COO, Head of Engineering, CMO, Customer Success Team, Growth Team, and CEO. This position reports directly to the CEO.

You’ll be doing things like:

Product Design

  • Product Design Lifecycle & Process: Shaping the product design lifecycle alongside the Fractional CPO; integrating design into discovery, sprints, and release cycles; transitioning the team from a backend-led process to a user-centered one
  • User Research & Advocacy: Participating in cross-functional research sessions with the COO, Head Of Engineering, Fractional CPO, and Customer Success Team; synthesizing Intercom feedback, customer calls, and analytics into roadmap planning and feature prioritization; socializing UXR learnings across Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams
  • End-To-End Design Execution: Owning end-to-end product design from concept through delivery; producing lo-fi wireframes, hi-fi mockups, functional prototypes, and developer-ready assets across iOS, Android, and desktop; sweating the interaction details — transitions, micro-interactions, native mobile patterns, and the feel of a product in motion; designing for B2B partner-facing interfaces as the partnership ecosystem grows; iterating on designs based on post-launch data, customer feedback, and feature metrics
  • Design QA & Critiques: Conducting design QA and critiques on developed work; reviewing implemented features against approved designs; flagging inconsistencies before and after release
  • Design System: Building and maintaining a component-based design system and style guide; establishing design tokens, documentation, and governance practices that ensure consistency across the product

Marketing & Brand

  • Social & Ad Creative: Creating marketing visuals, social content, and campaign assets across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube; producing a regular cadence of static graphics, short-form video, and ad creative; adapting influencer-sourced raw materials to brand standards
  • Brand Cohesion: Driving brand cohesion across all digital touchpoints — social, email, ad creative, website, and app; owning and continuously improving the marketing website and app; designing email marketing assets in support of one of the company's primary acquisition channels; maintaining visual consistency across investor decks, B2B meeting materials, and internal leadership documentation
  • Event & Physical Collateral: Designing event and physical collateral for Parent-Teacher Association activations and fintech expos; producing banners, podium branding, looping display videos, and one-pagers customized for specific events and audiences

DesignOps

  • File Organisation: Maintaining impeccable file organisation in Figma; establishing naming conventions, component structures, page hierarchies, and clean version history
  • Design Process & Handoff: Developing SOPs and handoff documentation for how design work is briefed, reviewed, and iterated on; establishing a scalable design operating model from the ground up

Skills & Qualifications

  • 4-6+ years of experience as a Product Designer, UI/UX Designer, Brand Designer, Marketing Designer, or related
  • A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work across web and mobile is required — your work will speak loudest here
  • Prior experience at a startup or fast-moving product team; comfort with ambiguity, evolving process, and a broad, varied scope
  • Native Figma proficiency across auto layout, components, variables, prototyping, Dev Mode, and collaborative handoff workflows
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining scalable, component-based design systems
  • Strong interaction design sensibility — an eye for the details that build trust: consistent spacing, predictable patterns, native mobile conventions, and the feel of a product in motion
  • Mixed-methods user research experience spanning primary and secondary research, qualitative interviews, and quantitative analysis
  • Ability to produce premium marketing and social content — static graphics, short-form video, and ad creative — across formats
  • Strong visual design fundamentals across typography, colour, layout, and hierarchy
  • Excellent file organisation and documentation habits; clean, scalable Figma hygiene is non-negotiable
  • Clear, proactive communicator who shares work early and collaborates effectively in a fully remote environment

Bonus if you also have:

  • Motion design skills, including micro-interactions, animated prototypes, or short motion pieces for social and product (e.g. After Effects, Principle, Rive, or Figma motion)
  • Deeper brand design experience across visual identity systems
  • 3D design or illustration capabilities for icons, elements, or visual identity work (e.g. Blender, Spline, Cinema 4D)
  • Experience in fintech, personal finance, or other regulated industries
  • Familiarity with front-end development concepts; ability to vibe-code designs when needed
  • Familiarity with our tools: Figma, Figma Make, Metabase, JIRA, Claude, Claude Code, Customer.io, Intercom, Mixpanel, Segment, Retool, Appsflyer, Slack, Google Workspace, GitHub

Position DetailsWorking Hours: Fixed 8-hour day between 7AM–3PM ET, with occasional meetings extending to 5PM ET to overlap with west-coast US teammates, and occasional weekend availability for urgent matters. Adjusts with Daylight Saving Time.

Employment Type: Full-time (40+ hours/week), Exclusivity Preferred

Education: No formal requirement — portfolio and demonstrated experience take precedence

Level: Upper-Intermediate (4-5 years of relevant experience), Senior (6+)

Compensation: ~USD $3,638–$4,757 (PLN 13K–17K) per month, based on experience. Structured as a Consultant Agreement (independent contractor), meaning you'll be responsible for your own taxes, benefits, and insurance.
