Job Title: Freelance Senior Designer / Head of Design – Luxury Leather Goods & AccessoriesLocation: Remote with design meetings at client’s UK h/o

Employment Type: Contract initially 6 months – 1 year, with a view to extend/become perm

We are working exclusively with a luxury leather goods business committed to exceptional craftsmanship and lasting designs with attention to detail, that utilise the finest materials. With a rapidly growing global following, the business is driven by a passion for customer-focused excellence, superb quality and make as well as enduring contemporary designs. Our clients’ collections span bags, luggage and accessories, and an exceptional opportunity has arisen for a freelance Senior Designer or Head of Design, who shares their vision, appreciation of quality and creativity, to join the team.

This role will begin as a Freelance role on a contract basis, yet the ideal person the client is seeking, is someone who can develop into the future Creative Director of the brand. Therefore, there is much scope for developing a long-term relationship with the team and becoming a permanent part of the business, for the right individual.Role Overview:

As Senior Freelance Senior Designer or Head of Design, you will play a key leadership role in shaping the creative direction and evolution of our designs. You will be responsible for designing and developing seasonal collections of luxury leather goods across womenswear and menswear collections, ensuring all products reflect our standards and unique signature. You’ll work closely with our Senior leadership team, product development, and supply chain partners to bring exceptional products to market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working in conjunction with senior leadership, lead the design and development of luxury leather goods collections for women and men.
  • Conduct research into trends, materials, production techniques, and competitive market developments to ensure collections remain contemporary and aligned with brand DNA.
  • Develop seasonal mood boards, sketches, technical drawings, and prototypes.
  • Source and select premium leathers, hardware, and components in collaboration with the sourcing team.
  • Oversee product development through to final samples, ensuring continuous alignment meeting aesthetic, technical, and quality standards.
  • Present design concepts and collections to senior management team as required.

About You:

  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in luxury design for leather goods, with a strong portfolio covering both women’s and men’s luxury leather goods.
  • Prior experience working with true luxury brands (not high street or diffusion lines).
  • Deep knowledge of leather materials, finishes, and high-end manufacturing techniques.
  • Strong understanding of commercial, consumer, and brand perspectives within the luxury market.
  • Exceptional conceptual, hand-sketching, and technical design skills (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, CAD).
  • Proven ability to take products from concept to production.
  • Highly organised, deadline-driven, and skilled at managing multiple collections in parallel.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; able to collaborate effectively.
  • Passionate about craftsmanship, sustainability, and brand legacy.
