About Us
Nova Solvers is a U.S. engineering and technology company developing advanced imaging and sensing systems for government and commercial applications. We focus on precision engineering, rapid development, and mission-critical reliability.
Role Overview
We’re seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineer to support the design and integration of precision optical assemblies. The engineer will translate optical design requirements into stable, manufacturable mechanical architectures, working closely with optical, thermal, and systems engineers throughout the design cycle.
Responsibilities
- Develop precision opto-mechanical designs for lenses, mirrors, and sensor assemblies.
- Design and analyze mounts, structures, and mechanisms to maintain alignment and stability under environmental loads.
- Perform thermal, vibration, and structural analyses (FEA) to validate designs.
- Support athermalization and material trade studies to ensure performance across temperature ranges.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings compliant with ASME/ISO standards.
- Interface with fabricators and suppliers to ensure manufacturability, tolerance control, and assembly alignment.
- Participate in integration and test planning for optical subsystems.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical or opto-mechanical design for optical or electro-optical systems.
- Proficiency in CAD and FEA tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or ANSYS).
- Strong understanding of optical mounts, flexures, alignment techniques, and precision assembly methods.
- Familiarity with CTE management, kinematic design principles, and athermal design approaches.
- Experience collaborating with optical design engineers and cross-disciplinary teams.
- U.S. person status (required for export-controlled work).
Preferred
- Experience with spaceborne, airborne, or other high-reliability optical systems.
- Knowledge of environmental qualification and vibration/thermal test practices.
Contract Details
- Duration: 3–6 months (extendable).
- Flexible remote work with scheduled technical reviews.
- Competitive hourly or milestone-based compensation.
