Partner / API Software Engineer (Contract – 12 Months)Location: Remote (UK-based)
Salary:
- £87,000 minimum – London-based candidates
- £78,000 minimum – Outside London
We’re working with a global technology organisation that operates at massive scale and partners with companies worldwide. They’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer with a strong focus on API design and partner integrations to join a global messaging-focused team.
This is a 12-month contract role with the potential to extend and the possibility of longer-term opportunities depending on project needs.
The Role:
This position sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and external partners. You’ll work on building, integrating, and validating APIs while acting as a technical bridge between internal teams and third-party partners.
The work is impactful, fast-paced, and highly collaborative, with a strong focus on quality, security, and regulatory requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Design, build, and maintain API-driven software solutions
- Integrate and support large, complex third-party APIs
- Independently understand, test, and validate API specifications
- Work closely with internal product and engineering teams
- Act as a technical point of contact for external partners
- Contribute technical insight to product and platform decisions
- Ensure solutions meet high standards for reliability, security, and compliance
What We’re Looking For:Essential:
- Strong experience designing and working with APIs
- Proven background in software development (backend / platform-focused)
- Ability to understand API specifications and test integrations independently
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with external partners
- Experience operating in distributed or global teams
Nice to Have:
- Background in large-scale or high-growth tech environments
- Previous partner-facing, platform, or integration-focused roles
Experience
- Around 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience
- Strong engineering fundamentals preferred over specific languages or frameworks
