We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer III to lead the development of an innovative interactive demo that visualizes brain activity in real-time. What You Will Do:
- Build a high-performance, user-friendly front-end web application utilizing WebGL, React, and 3js to bring a 3D brain visualization to life.
- Collaborate with research and design teams to implement interactive controls such as rotation, zoom, play/pause, and media selection.
- Integrate complex AI model outputs related to neural activity, ensuring low latency and high resolution.
- Develop seamless data pipelines and APIs to connect front-end visualization with backend scientific models.
- Lead UI/UX iterations based on feedback, emphasizing accessibility and a clean, scientific aesthetic.
- Work closely with research scientists to understand model data and translate it into compelling visual narratives.
- Drive the technical architecture ensuring a responsive, performant experience across browsers and devices.
Required Skills:
- 5-10+ years in software design and development, with strong expertise in Python, web frameworks, and backend APIs.
- Deep experience in front-end development with React, WebGL, 3js, and related visualization libraries.
- Proven ability to develop interactive, browser-based 3D visualizations.
- Strong understanding of Python for integrating scientific models and data.
- Excellent collaboration skills with research, design, and backend engineering teams.
- Ability to work independently and lead complex projects from concept to deployment.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with WebGL, Stylex, Flow, or similar styling and UI tools.
- Knowledge of data pipelines, data management, and handling media-intensive web applications.
- Familiarity with design systems, deployment workflows, and best practices for web demos.
- Past experience in scientific visualization, neuroinformatics, or related domains.
- Industry background in gaming, web apps, or scientific demos with a focus on browser performance.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in advanced front-end and back-end web development.
- Prior work on interactive data visualization or AI-driven projects is highly desirable.
Other Requirements:
- Location: UK-based, with remote work available nationwide.
- Salary: Minimum pay rate in London area: £89,000 per annum (pro rata). Rest of UK: £64,000 per annum (pro rata).
- Duration: 3 months initially, with extension possible.
