About the roleThinkmill is growing and we are looking to add another senior full-time analyst and designer to the team to help take on more (and more ambitious) projects, as well as to shape our growing design team.

Here are a few recent projects you might have worked on if you were already part of the team:

• Building Earth, a new design system for AnywhereWorks
• Re-designing Vocal's homepage based on customer insights
• Building a multi-site platform for AusCycling
• Contributing to the creation of Atlassian AtlasKit design System
• Designing Breville's HACCP Manager app for syncing cooking data over BLE
• Building the FOSS project Keystone and maintain its community
• ...and here's a few things you might work on soon after you join:
• Partnering with Thinkmillʼs renowned front-end engineers to architect a new Design System, including token architecture, core components and patterns (eg. filtering, navigation, bulk operations, etc)
• Helping to implement the UX design process of new (highly functional) web and mobile apps
• Collaborating with a tight-knit design team working on complex application interfaces
• Designing an approach to theming in a Design System that relies on colour functions and palette resolvers, rather than endless definition of component tokens

About you

We're looking for someone with senior-level user interface and visual design skills who sweats the details and cares deeply about quality. That means...

• You're a strong communicator, and you can get your ideas across clearly and persuasively in writing. We're a fully remote team, so async written communication is very important.
• You're prolific at designing high quality, well organised UIs and patterns, that balance end-user goals (what's the best possible thing this could be?), with real-world constraints like time, budget, feasibility (what's the best thing this could be within the constraints?)
• You're comfortable operating autonomously, and are able to unblock yourself when needed.
• You have experience working effectively within or alongside software development teams, and are a positive and supportive member of the team (no wannabe Steve Jobs', please).
• You posses a keen interest in the gritty, grimy details of usability and interfaces, and how software is made.
• You're familiar with how front-end development happens (that is, how software interfaces are made, their trade-offs and compromises) and you use this familiarity to inform your design decisions.
• You have experience in a consulting or agency context and/or experience working directly with key stakeholders.
• Most importantly, you just love to make stuff.
