# Staff UX Designer


## About the Role


Counterpart Health is transforming healthcare and improving patient care through **Counterpart Assistant**, an innovative primary care tool designed to support Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) with earlier diagnosis and longitudinal care management of chronic conditions. We are seeking a **Staff UX Designer** to join the design leadership team and lead impactful design initiatives across the product suite.


In this role, you will shape the quality of the user experience by solving complex design challenges, introducing consumer-level experiences into enterprise healthcare, and collaborating closely with engineering, product, data science, and senior leadership teams. You will lead large-scale design projects, establish emerging design patterns, elevate design quality, mentor other designers, and champion a user-first mindset across the organization.


## Key Responsibilities


* Lead the introduction of **consumer-level experiences** into the enterprise healthcare space and establish a high standard for design quality.

* Explore and solve undefined problem areas, driving innovation across complex user and business challenges.

* Lead large-scale design initiatives using rapid prototyping and fast learning cycles to develop impactful and scalable solutions.

* Bring differentiated design expertise to elevate product quality and create breakthrough user experiences.

* Demonstrate design leadership, strategic thinking, and strong judgment when making complex design decisions.

* Champion design excellence and innovation across the organization.

* Collaborate closely with senior engineering teams to develop and iterate prototypes and deliver experiences to end users.

* Partner with leadership and data science teams to integrate **machine learning (ML) features** into product experiences.

* Introduce next-generation design patterns into the workflows of designers and product managers.

* Contribute to and maintain the **Design System**, including incorporating new patterns and retiring or updating outdated patterns.

* Lead high-impact exploration projects with significant strategic potential.

* Influence cross-functional teams and establish standards for high-impact design solutions.

* Mentor and share knowledge with other designers to elevate team-wide design capabilities.

* Manage and reconcile conflicting stakeholder feedback to create cohesive and innovative design solutions.


## Required Qualifications


### Experience


* **7+ years of in-house design experience.**

* Experience working autonomously with senior technical teams.

* Experience integrating complex features such as **machine learning (ML)** into product experiences.

* Demonstrated mastery of interaction and visual design.

* Experience leading early-stage exploration projects with high-value potential.

* Proven ability to manage and reconcile conflicting stakeholder feedback.

* Experience contributing to and maintaining high-quality, scalable design systems.

* Experience mentoring and developing other designers.


### Design & Leadership Skills


* Advanced expertise in **UX design, interaction design, and visual design**.

* Strong strategic thinking and design decision-making skills.

* Ability to solve complex, undefined user and business problems.

* Strong portfolio demonstrating advanced design expertise and outstanding user experiences.

* Ability to lead large-scale design initiatives and rapid prototyping efforts.

* Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

* Ability to establish design standards and influence design quality across an organization.

* Natural leadership style with a passion for sharing knowledge and elevating design capabilities.


### Portfolio


* Portfolio demonstrating **industry mastery**, advanced interaction and visual design expertise, and a track record of creating best-in-class user experiences.


## Preferred Qualifications


* **Healthcare design experience** is a plus.

* Experience designing products or experiences involving healthcare workflows, enterprise software, or complex technology environments.

* Experience working closely with data science teams on ML-enabled product experiences.


## Success in This Role


### First 90 Days


* Partner with senior engineering to deliver multiple prototype iterations that reach end users.

* Elevate the user experience and establish a new benchmark for design excellence.

* Collaborate with leadership and data science teams to integrate ML features into product experiences.


### First Six Months


* Integrate next-generation design patterns into the workflows of designers and product managers.

* Incorporate new patterns and improvements into the Design System.

* Retire or update outdated design patterns.

* Balance refinement of next-generation experiences with delivery of new, high-impact projects.


### Long Term


* Lead groundbreaking exploration projects with significant potential.

* Collaborate with senior leadership and data science teams on strategic design advancements.

* Continue elevating design quality through contributions to the Design System.

* Establish new standards for design excellence across the organization.

## Compensation


The reasonable estimated base salary range for this role is:


**$188,500 – $245,000 USD**


Final compensation is based on factors including internal equity, market data, education, work experience, certifications, and other relevant considerations.
