Key Purpose
We are seeking a contract User Researcher for a 6-month placement to join our User-Centred Design (UCD) team. Working closely with a UI/UX Designer and reporting to the Product Manager, you will play a critical role in understanding user needs and behaviours to inform the design and development of our digital products. Your insights will help shape intuitive, accessible, and impactful user experiences for the public transport industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and Conduct Research: Design and execute qualitative and quantitative user research activities, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and contextual inquiries.
- Analyse and Synthesize Findings: Translate research data into actionable insights, user personas, journey maps, and other artefacts to inform design decisions.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with the UI/UX Designer and Product Manager to align research with product goals and user needs.
- Advocate for the User: Champion user-centred design principles across the product lifecycle, ensuring user needs are at the forefront of decision-making,
- Report and Present: Communicate findings clearly and effectively to stakeholders through reports, presentations, and workshops.
- Support Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development of research processes, tools, and best practices within the UCD team.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a User Researcher or in a similar role within a digital product environment.
- Strong understanding of user-centred design principles and research methodologies.
- Experience planning and conducting user research independently.
- Ability to analyse and present complex data in a clear and compelling way.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Comfortable working remotely and managing time effectively across multiple projects.
Desirable but not essential
- Experience working in the public transport or mobility sector.
- Familiarity with tools such Miro, Figma, and Userlytics.
- Experience working in agile product teams.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive research practices.
