Freelance Graphic Designer – Remote Contract

This role is ideal for a creative graphic designer passionate about empowering GenX women through engaging visual storytelling. You will art direct and design the layout for a non-fiction workbook and guided journal focused on homemaking, family, and stitch crafts. The project requires preparing the book for both print and eBook formats, ensuring a cohesive and visually appealing experience for readers. You will collaborate closely with the author to bring the vision to life, balancing aesthetics with readability and accessibility. This is a fully remote, flexible opportunity suited for designers who excel in both layout and illustration. Deliverables

• Art direction and visual concept development for the workbook/journal
• Complete page layout design for print and eBook versions
• Creation or selection of supporting illustrations and images
• Preparation of print-ready and digital files according to publishing standards
• Collaboration with the author to refine visual elements and ensure alignment with the target audience
• Iterative revisions based on feedback

Requirements

• Proven experience in graphic design, with a strong portfolio of book or editorial layout projects
• Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
• Ability to create or source original illustrations relevant to homemaking and crafts
• Understanding of print and digital publishing requirements
• Excellent communication skills and responsiveness in a remote work environment
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
• Experience working with self-publishing authors or on personal projects is a plus
• Interest in or familiarity with GenX women’s interests, homemaking, or crafts is desirable
