Freelance Illustrator – Children's Book

This role involves creating captivating hand-drawn illustrations for a children's picture book, with a particular emphasis on Australian landscapes, seascapes, children, and animals. The project is for a published author and offers the opportunity to bring imaginative stories to life through vibrant, painterly artwork. The ideal illustrator will be based in Australia and able to work remotely, contributing their artistic vision to a personal project with the potential for future collaborations. Responsibilities

• Produce a series of original, hand-drawn illustrations using oil or water paint techniques
• Accurately depict Australian land and sea environments, as well as children and animals, in a style suitable for young readers
• Collaborate with the author or project scout to ensure illustrations align with the narrative and creative direction
• Deliver high-resolution digital files of completed artwork within agreed timelines
• Revise artwork based on feedback to achieve the desired visual outcome
• Maintain consistent artistic quality and style throughout the project

Skills And Requirements

• Demonstrated experience illustrating children's books or similar projects
• Proficiency in traditional hand-drawn illustration, specifically oil or water paint
• Strong portfolio showcasing ability to depict landscapes, seascapes, children, and animals
• Creative storytelling skills through visual art
• Excellent communication and responsiveness to feedback
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Must be based in Australia; remote work is acceptable
• Availability for a project duration of more than one week, with potential for follow-up work
