Freelance Illustrator – Children's Books

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a talented illustrator to bring a new children's book project to life, aimed at readers aged 6–10. The project blends vibrant, whimsical illustration with playful and meaningful storytelling, encouraging imagination, cognitive flexibility, and a celebration of cultural diversity. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio in children's illustration, a flair for dynamic characters, and the ability to visually narrate stories that resonate with young audiences. Responsibilities

• Create original, expressive illustrations for a children’s book project, ensuring visual consistency and alignment with the project’s themes
• Develop dynamic characters and scenes that engage and inspire children aged 6–10
• Collaborate with writers, musicians, and designers to integrate illustration with music and interactive storytelling elements
• Incorporate feedback from the creative team to refine artwork and enhance narrative impact
• Deliver high-quality, print-ready artwork according to project milestones and deadlines
• Contribute creative ideas to support the project’s focus on cultural diversity and imaginative play

Skills And Requirements

• Proven experience as a children’s book illustrator, cover artist, or similar role, with a portfolio showcasing whimsical, expressive styles and bold use of color
• Strong storytelling instincts and ability to convey emotion and narrative visually
• Experience working on creative platforms and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with children’s media, educational games, or cross-cultural themes is a plus
• Proficiency in digital illustration tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Procreate, or similar)
• Excellent communication skills and openness to feedback
• Ability to work remotely and manage deliverables independently
