Freelance Illustrator – Sci-Fi Book Cover

This role is for a creative illustrator or cover artist to design a compelling cover for a science fiction novel set in a future district inspired by Russian culture and landmarks. The project requires a strong visual storyteller who can capture the unique blend of futuristic themes and Russian heritage, creating an eye-catching cover that resonates with the novel’s setting. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation or understanding of Russian culture, with the ability to translate these influences into a visually striking design. This is a remote, single-project opportunity with the potential for ongoing collaboration on future covers in the series. Deliverables

• Design and illustrate a high-quality, original cover for a science fiction novel, incorporating Russian cultural elements and recognizable landmarks.
• Collaborate closely with the author to understand the story’s themes, setting, and visual requirements.
• Provide initial concept sketches and iterate based on feedback.
• Deliver final artwork in print-ready and digital formats, meeting all technical specifications for publishing.
• Ensure the cover design aligns with genre expectations and stands out in the marketplace.

Requirements

• Proven experience in book cover illustration, preferably within the science fiction or fantasy genres.
• Strong portfolio showcasing ability to blend cultural motifs and futuristic elements.
• Deep understanding of Russian culture, history, and visual aesthetics; artists with Russian roots or significant cultural knowledge are highly preferred.
• Proficiency in digital illustration tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Procreate.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently on a remote basis.
• Availability to begin work immediately and deliver within agreed timelines.
