Online Volunteering opportunity
The Volunteer Solutions Section (VSS) within the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) develops policies and solutions that support the deployment of UN Volunteers across the UN system. The Talent Acquisition and Recruitment team within VSS oversees end‑to‑end recruitment, from sourcing to selection.
The UNV Conditions of Service (COS) provide the policy and regulatory framework governing volunteer assignments, outlining entitlements, responsibilities, legal status, conduct, and administrative procedures. They are updated periodically to ensure coherence and alignment with operational needs.
UNV is finalizing an updated version of the Conditions of Service, a 148‑page institutional document including annexes and images. To ensure it is publication-ready, UNV seeks specialized support in editorial design, formatting, and accessibility compliance.

- Develop a clean, coherent, and publication‑ready PDF layout aligned with UNV branding and style guidelines.
- Ensure full accessibility of the final PDF, including proper tagging, alternative text, logical reading order, and compliance with international accessibility standards.
Note: No content editing or rewriting is required—this assignment focuses exclusively on layout, design, and accessibility. Deadline for final PDF: 27 March 2026
Profile RequirementsRequired Experience:
- Proven experience in editorial and layout design, including formatting complex MS Word documents.
- Strong proficiency in advanced MS Word formatting and relevant graphic design software.

Online Volunteers contribute part‑time using their skills and expertise to support UN partners remotely. While they do not receive any form of financial compensation, salary, or allowance, their contribution is recognized through an official Certificate of Service/Contribution issued upon successful completion of their assignment.
This certificate acknowledges the meaningful impact of their volunteer efforts and their commitment to advancing the goals of the organization.
