ABOUT VAULTIER

Vaultier is building a private collection-management platform for wealthy collectors and the personnel authorised to manage their high-value collections. The product combines secure digital records, collection administration, controlled access, approvals and coordination with trusted professionals.

Vaultier is preparing its first MVP and requires an experienced full-stack engineer to take technical ownership of the build.

THE ROLE

The engineer will work from approved product requirements and designs to build, test and release the Vaultier MVP.

Some initial screens may be produced using AI-assisted development tools. The engineer will be responsible for reviewing and converting this work into secure, maintainable, production-ready software. This includes correcting generated code, completing missing behaviour and ensuring the frontend works properly with the wider application.

The engineer will own delivery across the frontend, backend, data model, infrastructure and deployment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recommend the simplest secure technical approach for the MVP
  • Build the responsive web application across frontend and backend
  • Convert approved designs and early generated screens into production-ready interfaces
  • Design and maintain the application architecture and data model
  • Implement account creation, authentication and MFA
  • Build role-based permissions for collectors, authorised representatives, Vaultier staff and approved professionals
  • Build collection, piece and Vaultier Record functionality
  • Implement actions, approvals, requests and notifications
  • Implement secure document upload, storage and access
  • Build audit history for important activity and changes
  • Integrate payment, identity-checking and email services where required
  • Configure hosting, environments, deployments, monitoring and backups
  • Write automated tests and support independent QA
  • Diagnose and resolve defects
  • Maintain technical documentation
  • Explain technical decisions, costs and trade-offs clearly
  • Support releases and the initial client launch
  • Protect confidential client and collection information throughout development
  • Leave Vaultier with full access to its code, infrastructure, data and technical documentation

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • At least six years of professional software-development experience
  • Strong full-stack engineering experience
  • Experience delivering a startup MVP from build through release
  • Strong frontend and responsive-web development skills
  • Strong backend, API and relational-database experience
  • Experience implementing authentication and role-based permissions
  • Experience handling sensitive user information and private documents
  • Experience with secure file storage and audit logging
  • Experience deploying and maintaining production applications
  • Ability to make proportionate technical decisions without overengineering
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with Product, UX and QA
  • Clear written and verbal communication

WORKING APPROACH

The engineer will work from defined PRDs, agreed tickets and approved designs. Product defines the required behaviour, while UX and engineering help determine the simplest suitable interaction and technical implementation.

The successful contractor should be comfortable:

  • Challenging requirements when there is a clear technical reason
  • Presenting simpler alternatives
  • Estimating work before development begins
  • Separating MVP requirements from future improvements
  • Working in phases with agreed deliverables
  • Demonstrating completed work regularly
  • Documenting assumptions, risks and dependencies

AI-ASSISTED DEVELOPMENT

AI development tools may be used where they improve delivery, provided that:

  • All tools are disclosed to Vaultier
  • Confidential information is not uploaded
  • Client data, collection data, credentials, private documents and proprietary materials are not entered into unapproved systems
  • Generated code is reviewed, tested and understood before release
  • Use of AI does not affect Vaultier’s ownership of the work
  • The engineer remains fully responsible for security, quality and maintainability

OWNERSHIP & SECURITY

All project code, configurations, documentation and other deliverables created for Vaultier must belong to Vaultier in accordance with the contract. Development must take place in Vaultier-controlled repositories and accounts wherever practical. Credentials must not be shared, and production access should be limited and recorded.

The engineer must immediately report any security concern, accidental disclosure or compromised access.

APPLICATION

Applicants should provide:

  • A CV or professional profile
  • Examples of relevant full-stack products they have built
  • A brief explanation of their role in those builds
