About Us:

We’re on a mission to bring the power of modern marketing to B2B technical industries, so they can achieve greater success. For over a decade, we’ve helped B2B marketers in technical, industrial and manufacturing industries accelerate growth through highly effective websites and powerful digital marketing.

About The Opportunity:

We’re seeking a Junior Web Developer/Designer to join our growing remote team. In this full-time role, you’ll contribute to the design, development, and implementation of B2B websites and digital experiences that deliver exceptional user experience and performance. You’ll collaborate closely with designers, developers, and project managers to translate Figma designs and text & visual assets into production-ready WordPress pages, primarily using the Gutenberg block editor, while applying front-end styling and functionality using HTML, CSS/SASS, and JavaScript.

This hybrid position combines creative and technical skills, allowing you to flex between design refinement and implementation details. You’ll ensure every build maintains visual accuracy, responsive performance, and brand consistency, while also handling light development tasks such as plugin configuration and minor PHP updates.

This is a full-time, remote/WFH position on a fully virtual team.About You:

You’re a motivated and detail-driven web professional with a blend of creative design sensibility and technical capability. You thrive in an agency environment where you can learn, collaborate, and grow while delivering polished, on-brand work. You take pride in clean design and accurate implementation, enjoy troubleshooting layout issues, and communicate clearly with your teammates.

Here are the key qualities we’re looking for:

  • Design Translation: You can accurately translate approved designs from Figma into responsive web pages that align with project goals and UX best practices.
  • Production Quality & Accuracy: You maintain strong attention to visual detail, spacing, typography, and brand consistency throughout production.
  • Technical Aptitude: You have a working knowledge of HTML, CSS/SASS, and JavaScript, and can make light PHP edits within WordPress.
  • Process-Driven Mindset: You follow established workflows and naming conventions to keep deliverables organized, document progress and blockers clearly, and contribute to continuous improvement of production processes.
  • Communication & Collaboration: You communicate proactively with project managers, designers, and developers, asking clarifying questions early, providing thoughtful feedback during design and QA reviews, and keeping work visible in shared tools like Teamwork and Google Workspace.
  • Teamwork: You balance independence with collaboration, managing your own tasks while supporting smooth handoffs and contributing to the team’s shared success.
  • Adaptability: You’re eager to learn, open to feedback, and comfortable shifting between tasks or tools as priorities evolve.

You Will:

  • Perform both production design & front-end implementation work.
  • Accurately translate approved designs (Figma) into responsive web pages.
  • Apply CSS styling, spacing, typography, and visual elements according to brand and project guidelines.
  • Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility.
  • Implement features using HTML, Javascript, and SASS (CSS).
  • Build and edit pages using the Gutenberg block editor.
  • Populate text, images, and media into web pages, maintaining consistency and attention to detail throughout all content areas.
  • Make content and layout updates to existing sites.
  • Perform light back-end adjustments (e.g., plugin settings, minor PHP edits) with guidance.
  • Review pages for accuracy, brand alignment, and functionality before delivery.
  • Test for responsiveness, accessibility basics, and overall presentation quality.
  • Implement revisions quickly and thoroughly based on internal or client feedback, maintaining documentation of changes and updates.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, designers, and developers to ensure that deliverables meet deadlines, follow process standards, and maintain the high quality expected of all Windmill websites.

Your skills and background:

  • 2–3 years of professional experience in web design and/or development, ideally in an agency or multi-project environment.
  • 1-2 years of experience building and editing websites in WordPress (Gutenberg required).
  • Proficient in HTML/CSS/SASS, with basic working knowledge of JavaScript and PHP.
  • Experience working within Figma and adhering to established design systems and templates.
  • Familiarity with responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and accessibility fundamentals.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a good visual eye, strong organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating in a remote environment.
  • Experience with Google Workspace and familiarity with project management tools such as Teamwork or Asana.
  • Agency experience a plus.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with WPEngine or other managed WordPress environments.
  • Familiarity with BigCommerce, Shopify, or other CMS/eCommerce platforms.
  • Experience with SEO fundamentals, performance optimization, or accessibility audits.
  • Experience with CRM integrations (HubSpot, Salesforce, Pardot).
  • Experience using Git version control.
  • Exposure to Google Analytics, Looker Studio, or similar analytics tools.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Translate approved designs into responsive, high-quality web experiences.
  • Ensure functional, visual, and brand accuracy across all deliverables.
  • Execute front-end and light back-end tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Conduct thorough QA and implement revisions with precision.
  • Maintain consistency with established brand and process standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in workflows and production efficiency.
