About The Role Rare Castle is seeking a talented UI/UX Designer to join their passionate team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and implementing intuitive and emotionally resonant user interface elements that align with the studio’s vision of creating calming, story-driven experiences. You will collaborate closely with game designers, artists, and developers to ensure seamless integration of UI components across gameplay, narrative, and interaction points. Your work will involve translating abstract emotional concepts such as calmness, mystery, and tension into compelling visual and interactive elements. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio demonstrating experience in game or interactive digital environments, with a keen eye for mood-driven design and emotional cues. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the visual storytelling of a meaningful project, contributing to a game that aims to heal and inspire. Qualifications
- Strong portfolio showcasing UI/UX work in games or interactive digital experiences
- Solid understanding of UX principles, user-centered design, and interface hierarchy
- Experience designing UI systems for game engines, preferably Unreal Engine
- Proficiency with prototyping and layout tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or similar
- Understanding of motion design, transitions, and feedback mechanisms to enhance user experience
- Appreciation for minimalism, mood-driven design, and subtle emotional cues
- Excellent visual and aesthetic sensibility, including typography, iconography, and negative space
Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, and implement atmospheric UI elements (HUD, menus, prompts, inventory, etc.) that reflect the game’s emotional tone
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure UI supports seamless gameplay, narrative, and interaction experiences
- Translate abstract concepts like calm, tension, and mystery into visual layouts, motion, and feedback systems
- Develop wireframes, flowcharts, and interactive prototypes to demonstrate player journeys and screen transitions
- Participate in user testing and iterative design processes to refine UI usability and storytelling effectiveness
- Maintain consistency and accessibility across all interface elements while allowing room for creative experimentation
- Ensure UI design aligns with the overall artistic vision and emotional goals of the project
