Role Description

This is a volunteer remote role for a Visual Effects Artist. The Visual Effects Artist will be responsible for creating and integrating visual effects into our games, working closely with the animation and game development teams. Daily tasks include using Autodesk Maya for animation and compositing, designing and implementing lighting effects, and contributing to overall game development processes.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Niagara system in Unreal Engine 5
  • Experience with Lighting and Compositing
  • Animation and Game Development skills
  • Strong attention to detail and creativity
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
  • Passion for dark fantasy storytelling and gaming

About the Role

As our VFX Artist, you’ll be responsible for creating impactful and atmospheric visual effects that enhance gameplay and storytelling. From eerie magic effects to weapon fire, your work will make combat and exploration feel truly alive.

You’ll work closely with our animator, 3D artist, and the rest of the team to ensure the effects blend seamlessly with our dark, haunting world.

Your Mission

• Design and create combat-related VFX (e.g., Soulshard dagger slashes, Grimshot muzzle flashes, alternate fire modes, etc.)

• Build environmental effects (fog, sparks, dust, embers, mystical glows) that set the tone of our dark fantasy world

• Collaborate with the team to implement and refine VFX in Unreal Engine 5

• Optimize VFX for gameplay performance and visual clarity
