Top Architects and Artists Used for AI Prompts on Midjourney
A recent study has uncovered which architects and artists are most frequently referenced in AI image and video generation on Midjourney. Conducted by the web-based video editing platform Kapwing, the research analyzed how users leverage famous names and styles to create their AI-generated content.
Most Used Architects
- Zaha Hadid leads as the most mentioned architect with 63,103 prompts.
- Frank Lloyd Wright follows with 13,361 mentions.
- Other prominent architects include Tadao Ando, Frank Gehry, Peter Zumthor, Kengo Kuma, Bjarke Ingels, Le Corbusier, Richard Meier, and Jean Nouvel.

Most Used Directors and Illustrators
- Wes Anderson tops the list for directors with 92,378 prompts, surpassing combined totals for Tim Burton (57,000), Christopher Nolan (22,246), Ridley Scott (20,109), Guillermo del Toro (19,755), and Stanley Kubrick (16,758).
- Among illustrators, fantasy artist WLOP is the most used with 166,415 mentions.
- Greg Rutkowski follows with 134,695 mentions and is involved in a legal case against AI companies for unauthorized use of his name and style.

Midjourney Discord Server Counts Keyword Frequency
The study team compiled a list of 897 keywords from eight categories: artists, illustrators, film directors, architects, cities, media franchises, fast-food chains, and anime. Using the public online database Midlibrary, they gathered popular names from each category.
Researchers then utilized the Midjourney Discord server to count keyword appearances in AI image and video prompts, such as 'in the style of Wes Anderson' or 'a building by Zaha Hadid'. The analysis covered 4,929,594 prompts, revealing how often real-world references are employed in AI-generated content.
