Apple TV+ is Officially Dead
It's official: Apple TV+ is no more. In a recent press release, the streaming service announced it's dropping the '+' and rebranding to the simpler name, Apple TV.
Many users admit they've always called it by this 'new' name anyway. But with a fresh logo design making things official, Apple has finally caught up. This subtle reinvention might go unnoticed by many, but it's already causing confusion among users.
The New Logo: Minimalist or Plain?
Apple describes its new logo as a "vibrant new identity," but the design is essentially the same old logo without the glowing '+' sign. It maintains Apple's signature minimalist design and uses the SF font, staying true to the brand's aesthetic.
The Confusion Problem
Here's where issues arise: Apple already has multiple products under the Apple TV name. This includes the little black box that plugs into your TV and the Apple TV app. Adding the streaming service to this mix makes things increasingly confusing for users.
Lessons from Other Rebrands
As we've seen recently with the messy HBO Max rebrand, trying to reinvent your identity can do more harm than good—especially if you don't fully commit to the change. Apple needs to stick to its guns to avoid a similar fate.
