Bend's Artistic Call: Design Opportunities for Public Works Structures

The City of Bend Seeks Creative Minds
BEND, Ore. - The City of Bend, in collaboration with Art in Public Places, is inviting artists to submit designs for three unique structures at the new Public Works Campus being constructed at Juniper Ridge. The structures include a bike shelter, a trash enclosure, and a central utility plant enclosure.
Design Specifications
The selected artist(s) will create inspired 2D graphic art that will be laser-cut onto rusted Corten metal panels. These panels will serve as the exterior cladding for the structures. Artists will provide digital files of their artwork, which will be used by a local metal fabricator for the laser-cutting process.
Who Can Apply?
This opportunity is open to art students (16 years and older), emerging and professional artists, as well as graphic designers residing in Deschutes, Crook, or Jefferson counties. Multiple artists may be selected for any of the three structures.
Community Engagement
In spring 2025, the community will have a chance to view digital renderings of the designs and provide feedback online or in person. The installation of the artwork is scheduled for 2025.
Commitment to Diversity
The City of Bend and Art in Public Places are committed to fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion. They encourage applications from individuals from BIPOC communities, persons with disabilities, women, and LGBTQIA+ artists.
