Casa Oliva: The Stunning Two-Toned House You Can Win in Mexico!

Mexican architecture studio Productora has unveiled a breathtaking tiled house known as Casa Oliva in Nuevo León, set to be raffled off in the annual Tecnológico de Monterrey fundraiser. This 500-square metre (5,380-square foot) residence, the sixteenth in the Author's House series, is the grand prize for the 127th Traditional SorteoTEC Raffle, following the renowned Casa Elemental designed by Pritzker Prize-winner Alejandro Aravena in 2022.

Located on a 598-square metre (6,436-square foot) wedge-shaped, sloped lot in Santa Catarina, Casa Oliva is described by Productora as an exploration of spatiality and simplicity, focusing on reduction, honesty, and clarity. The ground floor features public spaces clad in grey-toned aluminium sheeting and expansive glass, while the upper floor is wrapped in sage-green concrete tiles.

The design integrates a sawtooth roof that mimics the surrounding mountains, creating a series of sloped ceilings inside. The staggered layout accommodates the slope of the land, leading to a double-height living room that enhances cross-ventilation and spatial dynamics.

The ground floor showcases rounded columns clad in dark green ceramic tile, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, while the design employs sustainable features such as a double-layered, insulated wall system and a Novidesa slab system for thermal control.

This project reflects Productora's commitment to innovative design and sustainable practices, making it a unique addition to the architectural landscape of Mexico.
