Shannan Beehive Observation Cabin: Architecture Project of the Year
An observation cabin in Tibet has been recognized as the architecture project of the year at the Dezeen Awards China 2024 ceremony held in Shanghai. This award celebrates outstanding achievements in Chinese architecture, interiors, and design.

The Shannan Beehive Observation Cabin, designed by Omno Lab, not only won the architecture project of the year but was also honored as the cultural project of the year. The cabin's black box design integrates seamlessly into its surroundings, intriguing visitors and inviting them to explore its unique story.
Judge Sou Fujimoto praised the use of treated wood, highlighting its thoughtful balance of nature, functionality, ecology, tradition, and craftsmanship. The cabin, located in Shannan City, was built using black carbonized wood to withstand the harsh conditions of the high-altitude plateau, blending into the forest while becoming a distinctive landmark.
"We designed it both for the bees that live here and for the visitors who set foot on this land because of their faith," said Omno Lab. This project aims to attract more tourists to Tibet, benefiting the local community and promoting rural revitalization.
