A Unique Design Inspired by Tradition

The Nyori House, crafted by the Indian architecture studio 3dor Concepts, embodies the beauty of flowing, pleated cloth. The undulating white walls of this minimalist home in Kerala reflect the elegance of traditional clothing such as sarees and mundus, drawing inspiration from the Malayalam word for pleats.

A Peaceful Retreat

Designed for a family seeking a peaceful retreat from city life, the house is nestled in the picturesque village of Wayanad. The design prioritizes the family's desire for simplicity and tranquility, enveloping them in a serene environment.

Architectural Features

The home's sweeping white walls serve as a barrier from the outside world, creating a safe play area for children. These wave-like lines on the façade not only evoke the softness of pleats but also blend the modern design with the natural surroundings, enhancing the tranquil atmosphere.

The large arched opening at the front leads into a semi-private space, with a small porch that steps up to the entrance. The curved walls allow for expansive glazing, providing stunning views of the play area from the living and dining spaces.

Light and Space

Translucent curtains and thin metal louvres filter light into the minimalist interiors, creating a bright and airy environment. The kitchen and bedrooms are thoughtfully arranged at the rear, with a courtyard allowing natural light into the study area.

A central staircase leads to the first floor, where the main ensuite bedroom opens onto a private terrace, shielded from the street by curving metal bars that mirror the exterior walls.
