Discover the Kitchen Paint Colors Designers Are Abandoning in 2025

Your choice of paint colors in a kitchen not only reflects your design style but also sets the tone for the space—whether light and airy or dark and moody. As we move into 2025, it's essential to know which shades are falling out of favor. Here are three kitchen paint colors that interior designers are ditching this year:

1. Cool Gray

While gray kitchens were once the go-to for a sleek, modern look, this cool neutral is being replaced by warm neutral paints. Designers like Nadia Watts note that clients prefer warmer, inviting colors such as creamy whites and earthy beiges, making kitchens feel more welcoming than cold or sterile.

2. Navy Blue

Navy blue, a classic kitchen color, is being replaced by warmer tones. Designers observe that homeowners are now embracing a broader range of colors, moving beyond navy to experiment with bolder choices that feel more natural and inviting. Caron Woolsey emphasizes the importance of balancing navy with lighter elements and textures.

3. Bright White

Despite the shift towards richer tones, bright white remains a classic choice in kitchens. However, designers suggest that layering white with earthy tones, such as warm ochres or deep greens, can create a more inviting atmosphere. Gabriela Eisenhart highlights the trend of favoring warm whites over stark, icy shades to enhance the emotional warmth of the kitchen.

While these colors are being phased out, remember that personal preference is key when choosing colors for your home. It's all about what brings you joy, regardless of trends.
