Discover the Stunning Villa Sidonius: A Modern Architectural Marvel Overlooking Prague

Villa Sidonius: A Modern Architectural Marvel

Villa Sidonius, designed by Stempel & Tesar, is a striking steel-framed home perched on concrete supports, reminiscent of a bridge. Located in a serene neighborhood outside Prague, this residence offers breathtaking views of the Berounka valley and maximizes sunlight exposure in a shaded area.

The villa's design pays homage to the traditional villas of the region while introducing a modern twist. The studio refers to this project as a "structural, architectural and technological experiment", emphasizing its innovative approach to residential design.

Innovative Design Features

The black steel structure is prefabricated, allowing for easy transportation to the site. It features floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors that enhance the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, complemented by a minimalist interior aesthetic.

A tunnel leading from street level provides access to an elevator hidden within one of the concrete supports, ensuring barrier-free access to the living area. The open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area is designed for family interaction, flanked by private bedroom spaces.

Outdoor Integration

The villa features large windows that showcase stunning views of the surrounding landscape, while sliding doors open up to a sheltered garden terrace and a swimming pool. The design effectively separates the living areas from the children's rooms, creating distinct yet connected environments.

The entrance, facing the road, is marked by an exposed concrete wall that leads into a garage and fitness area, all while maintaining the villa's elegant aesthetic. The external spaces were crafted in collaboration with landscape architect Vladimír Sitta, featuring a mix of grass and slate chips with birch trees.
