Experience Nature Like Never Before: The Floating Burl Treehouse Concept

Discover the Burl Treehouse by Antony Gibbon

The visionary architectural designer Antony Gibbon has unveiled the Burl Treehouse, an innovative series of rounded treehouse pods that promise an unparalleled connection with nature while prioritizing sustainability. These conceptual treehouses blend organic aesthetics with a minimalistic design, drawing inspiration from the natural shapes of tree burls—those unique, rounded, and textured growths found on tree trunks.

Floating Elegance in Nature

These treehouses appear to float effortlessly within the forest, supported by slender vertical slits and suspension cables. This design not only enhances the visual appeal but also minimizes disruption to the forest floor, allowing guests to enjoy a serene experience high above the ground. Access to these stunning pods is provided by timber suspension bridges.

Interior Design and Features

The interiors of the pods are crafted from light-toned cedar and ash wood, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The exterior features charred wood shingles using the traditional Japanese technique of shou sugi ban, adding to the overall aesthetic charm. Each cabin is equipped with:

• A cozy bedroom with built-in storage
• A small bathroom with a shower
• Furnishings designed to maximize space and comfort

Additionally, every pod includes a central circular window that floods the interior with natural light and offers panoramic views of the lush surroundings.

A Vision for Eco-Tourism

While the Burl Treehouse concept is intriguing and holds promise as an eco-tourism retreat, questions remain about its resilience in extreme weather conditions and the potential strain on its natural supports. Nevertheless, this innovative design is set to redefine how we experience nature and sustainability in the coming years.
