Explore the Rare Opportunity to Own Frank Lloyd Wright's Weisblat House for Sale!

A Unique Architectural Gem
A Frank Lloyd Wright–designed home in Galesburg, Michigan, known as the Weisblat House, is on the market for the second time ever in its 77-year history. Located in The Acres, a residential neighborhood laid out by Wright, this home is one of four designed by the architect in the area. Brian Kirksey, the home’s listing agent, describes the experience of being inside the property as truly magical.
Historical Background
In 1946, a group of scientists from the Upjohn Company and their families aimed to build affordable houses in a rural setting. They purchased a 71-acre site in 1947 and approached Wright to design the homes. The architect visited in March of that year and drafted plans for 21 homes on round, one-acre plots, but only five houses were built, including four of Wright’s designs.

Architectural Features
The Weisblat House was the first completed in The Acres, named after its original owners, David and Christine Weisblat. Wright employed his “in-line” plan, grouping shared spaces like the living and dining rooms on one side and the bedrooms on the other. The home utilizes Wright’s concrete textile block system, though the family faced challenges in building it due to a lack of instructions from the architect.
Additions and Modernization
In 1961, the Weisblats expanded the home with the help of Taliesin apprentices John Howe and William Wesley Peters. This addition included a new gallery, bathroom, greenhouse, and utility room.

Kirksey, who worked with Mrs. Weisblat before her passing, shares his deep connection to the home: “It’s a pretty special home, and I have a lot of warm feelings about my experience there over the past 25 years.” After the current owner’s seven-year stewardship, the home has been fully restored and modernized in key areas, like the kitchen and primary bathroom.
Listing Details
The residence is currently listed for $2.3 million, and Kirksey anticipates substantial interest, possibly attracting an international buyer.
