Inside Paloma Elsesser's Vibrant Brooklyn Townhouse: A Blend of Culture and Comfort

A Home Like No Other

Supermodel Paloma Elsesser describes her Brooklyn townhouse as a sanctuary that feels like a vacation when she returns home from her globe-trotting life. The space, completed in 2021, reflects her love for color, levity, and the things she cherishes.

Design Inspiration

Elsesser draws inspiration from varied locales, including Milanese design and North African iconography. Her home features a 1905 town house in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, where she envisioned a space reminiscent of her childhood home, filled with warmth and history. "Being a young mixed Black woman, it was really important to me to be in a historically Black and brown neighborhood," she shares.

Unique Aesthetic Choices

Working with Gregory Rockwell and Hester Hodde, Elsesser transformed the house while maintaining its character. The design incorporates a stunning Ettore Sottsass dining table, vintage chairs, and a Schumacher velvet sofa. Each room features a unique blend of furniture and art, showcasing Elsesser's eclectic taste.

A Luxurious Retreat

The home includes sumptuous textiles and elegant forms, with a dramatic stone-wrapped bathroom that echoes the luxury of Milan's Villa Necchi Campiglio. The media room features a chic animal-print sofa and cork-clad walls, creating a stylish yet inviting atmosphere.

Personal Reflections

As Elsesser settles into her dream home, she reflects on her journey, stating, "I feel like I became a woman here. I learned to navigate so many things—a breakup, a contractor, having agency over my decisions and my money. I’m under no one else’s jurisdiction. It’s scary, but also very freeing."

Her Brooklyn townhouse is a testament to her journey, blending her past and present in a space that feels uniquely hers.
