NVIDIA and Synopsys Announce Strategic Partnership to Revolutionize Engineering and Design

In a groundbreaking move, NVIDIA and Synopsys have announced an expanded strategic partnership that promises to transform engineering and design across multiple industries. This multi-year collaboration leverages NVIDIA's CUDA accelerated computing, agentic and physical AI, and Omniverse digital twins to achieve simulation speed and scale previously unattainable through traditional CPU computing.

NVIDIA and Synopsys Strategic Partnership

The Challenge: Rising Complexity in Engineering

R&D teams across semiconductor, aerospace, automotive, industrial, and other sectors face significant challenges including increasing workflow complexity, escalating development costs, and intense time-to-market pressure. This partnership directly addresses these pain points by integrating NVIDIA's AI and accelerated computing with Synopsys' market-leading engineering solutions.

A $2 Billion Investment and Shared Vision

As part of this strategic alignment, NVIDIA invested $2 billion in Synopsys common stock at a purchase price of $414.79 per share. This financial commitment underscores the significance of this collaboration.

"CUDA GPU-accelerated computing is revolutionizing design — enabling simulation at unprecedented speed and scale, from atoms to transistors, from chips to complete systems, creating fully functional digital twins inside the computer," said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA.

"The complexity and cost of developing next-generation intelligent systems demands engineering solutions with a deeper integration of electronics and physics, accelerated by AI capabilities and compute," added Sassine Ghazi, president and CEO of Synopsys.

Key Initiatives of the Partnership

Broadly Accelerate Synopsys Applications

Using NVIDIA CUDA-X libraries and AI-Physics technologies, Synopsys will further accelerate and optimize its broad portfolio of compute-intensive applications spanning chip design, physical verification, molecular simulations, electromagnetic analysis, optical simulation, and more.

Advance Agentic AI Engineering

The companies are integrating Synopsys AgentEngineer™ technology with the NVIDIA Agentic AI technology stack — including NVIDIA NIM microservices, NVIDIA NeMo Agent Toolkit software, and NVIDIA Nemotron models — to enable autonomous design capabilities for EDA and simulation workflows.

Connect Physical and Digital Worlds Through Digital Twins

This collaboration will enable the next generation of virtual design, testing, and validation through highly accurate digital twins for industries including semiconductor, robotics, aerospace, automotive, energy, industrial, and healthcare. These solutions will utilize NVIDIA Omniverse, NVIDIA Cosmos, and other technologies.

Cloud-Ready Solutions

Synopsys and NVIDIA plan to make accelerated engineering solutions accessible to engineering teams of all sizes by enabling cloud access for GPU-accelerated engineering solutions.

Joint Go-to-Market Initiatives

To drive market adoption, the companies will develop joint go-to-market initiatives to reach engineering teams across multiple industries with both on-premise and cloud-ready solutions. This effort will utilize Synopsys' global network of thousands of direct sellers and channel partners.

Non-Exclusive Collaboration

Importantly, this partnership is not exclusive. NVIDIA and Synopsys continue to partner with the broader semiconductor and electronic design automation (EDA) ecosystem to create shared growth opportunities for the future of engineering and design.

Looking Ahead

This collaboration represents a significant step forward in how engineering teams will approach complex design challenges. By combining AI-powered capabilities with accelerated computing, engineers across industries will be able to design, simulate, and verify intelligent products with greater precision, speed, and at lower cost than ever before.
