Stargazing in Style: Discover Casa Suna, Mexico's New Architectural Marvel

Embrace the Night Sky at Casa Suna
A circular courtyard designed for stargazing sits at the heart of Casa Suna, a stunning stone-clad holiday home in Mexico by YDR Studio. This exceptional property, measuring 700 square meters, is nestled between the sea and mountains in La Ribera, featuring a palette of pale stone and timber that harmonizes with the surrounding sandy landscape.

Design Philosophy
Yolanda De Rueda, founder of YDR Studio, explained that the core concept was to create a seamless integration with the diverse landscape, including beach dunes and desert vegetation. The design emphasizes a flow between indoor and outdoor spaces, using materials that complement the local environment.
Courtyard and Living Spaces
The home is accessed via a pale concrete path leading through a desert-inspired courtyard filled with cacti. The circular courtyard features a stepped seating area around a central fire pit, connecting the living, dining, and kitchen areas through large folding wooden doors. The living area and main bedroom boast panoramic views through a wall of full-height windows, leading to a concrete terrace with seating, hammocks, and a swimming pool.

Unique Features
The central courtyard serves as the home's centerpiece, perfect for relaxation and social gatherings, framed by the night sky for stargazing. The property extends to the beach with a spacious terrace where sculptural concrete cubes create the pool and jacuzzi. Bedrooms are positioned to offer views of both the beach and courtyard, while the gently sloping roof is punctuated by small skylights that illuminate the interiors.

Material Palette
The neutral tones of the exterior are reflected in the interiors, featuring local stone, beige concrete, and dark wood accents. Travertine marble in the bathrooms adds an elegant touch, maintaining consistency with the overall material palette.
