The 1963 Stingray's Original Designer Finally Built His Dream Car with Modern Tech

Chevrolet is one of the most coveted car brands around, but it turns out that the original designer of the 1963 Stingray decided to expand on perfection in a way that you wouldn’t expect.

Peter Brock once drew a sketch that later became the iconic Chevrolet Corvette Split Window Coupe under the direct management of the GM Styling Director, Bill Mitchell.

Years later, though, control was brought back into Brock’s hands, and the design has been brought back to life with all of the elements he originally intended it to have.

Thanks to 21st-century technology, the 1963 Stingray Studio Concept Split Window Coupe design has given Corvette lovers a whole new kind of model to cherish.

There are many legends in the auto world, but a standout name from a design point of view is Peter Brock.

The automotive design marvel shot to fame for the sketch of the Stingray he produced aged just 21, in 1957.

And now his dream idea actually exists, thanks to his six-decade-old plans being assisted with 21st-century components and engineering.

Now, he’s revealed the all-important details of the project he called ‘resto-refinement’.

The designer exclusively wrote an account of his adventure over on Classic Motorsports and explained the sheer power beneath the hood.

“Underneath the car’s iconic form is a special, newly refined, exclusive Art Morrison chassis with C7 production suspension components.

” [There’s also] a larger, improved braking system, and a fully port-injected induction system on a new LS3 Corvette engine,” Brock explained.

The engine boasts an extreme amount of power, thanks to the 6.25-liter, 725hp LT4 V8 engine.

Other components include functional scoops and vents in place of the original ornamental units and even an LT supercharger.

The exterior of the car offers even more of a premium look, finished in Ferrari Azzurro California Blue.

The coating boasts design changes, such as window placement and an accentuated spine that mirrors the classic design of the C2 Corvette, along with large door windows.

Yep, you read that right, the Studio Concept Split Window Coupe is hitting the auction block on January 16th in Kissimmee, thanks to Mecum Auctions.

Showing the car in all its glory on his YouTube channel, Peter explained that the combination of old money design elements and new engineering prowess means it really is a big deal.

“Everything is real; there is nothing on the car that is phony,” he explained.

The car has even been personally owned and is ultimately offered by Peter Brock himself.

As you’d expect, though, such a swanky design will likely come with a hefty price tag attached.
