Today, we’re excited to showcase the incredible tattoo artistry of Raquel Sousa, a Brazilian tattoo artist based in São Paulo. Specializing in transforming scars into exquisite tattoos, Raquel helps individuals regain their confidence through her delicate designs.

A Journey of Meaningful Art

Raquel shared her profound motivation:

"The art of tattooing on scars came into my life when I decided to work on something that truly made sense to me—something deeply emotional, as that is what drives me the most." She has been working with scars since 2020, but her journey began in 2018 as she sought purpose in her art and life.

The Creative Process

Raquel emphasizes the importance of the creative process, stating:

"All scars have the possibility to create something; they all inspire me." She collaborates closely with clients, developing designs based on their personal stories and desires. This process often requires a day off for the client to ensure a meaningful experience.

Behind the Scenes

Raquel's clients primarily discover her through social media platforms like Instagram and Pinterest. She explains that the time required for each session varies, influenced by the complexity of the scar and the design:

"The time varies according to the complexity of the scar and the size of the art." Each session is tailored to the individual's needs, ensuring that every tattoo is a unique reflection of their journey.

The Impact of Art

What drives Raquel is the transformation she witnesses in her clients:

"The feeling is strong and of satisfaction, promoting freedom through art was one of my dreams." She believes that every interaction teaches her something profound about human experience and beauty.

A Personal Evolution

In her own words, Raquel reflects on how her clients impact her life:

"What many people don’t know is that it’s not just me who changes them; each passage here changes a little bit about me too."
