Lead Visual Designer
Job Description
Posted on: January 22, 2026
We are partnering with a global digital consultancy that supports a major leader in pharmaceutical innovation. We’re looking for a Lead Visual/Product Designer to own the visual direction of a large-scale design system used across multiple digital products.
This is a remote, full-time contract role for an initial 12-month engagement with strong potential to extend. You’ll join a seasoned design systems team (library architect, motion, production, engineering) and be the person who drives the visual language, craft, and cohesion of the system.
What you’ll do
- Lead the visual direction for web, mobile, and interactive experiences, ensuring a modern, polished, and cohesive UI across products.
- Own the visual evolution of the design system – patterns, components, visual rules, and how the system expresses the brand.
- Turn complex topics into clear stories by translating scientific and clinical content into accessible, engaging digital experiences.
- Drive projects end to end from discovery and concepting through final visual design and delivery.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, marketing, and stakeholders to align on vision, priorities, and implementation.
- Guard the quality bar with pixel-perfect execution, consistency, and attention to detail across all deliverables.
What we’re looking for
- 10+ years in digital design, including 7+ years in product/UI design.
- Exceptional visual design craft: typography, layout, color, hierarchy, interaction, and overall aesthetic judgment.
- Proven experience with design systems – creating, maintaining, and evolving a system across multiple products.
- Systems thinker who can design scalable, user-centered solutions rather than isolated screens.
- Strong storytelling skills – able to simplify complex content and clearly articulate the “why” behind design decisions.
- Hands-on experience designing for web, mobile, and interactive experiences.
- Comfort leading design initiatives and partnering with cross-functional teams.
- Tools: Expert in Figma and very strong in Adobe Creative Suite; motion/animation skills are a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Visual Communication, or related field.
- Healthcare/pharma experience is a plus, but not required – curiosity and ability to ramp up on complex domains are more important.
What will make you stand out
- You’ve led the visual expression of a design system (not just contributed components).
- You have experience from top digital agencies/consultancies or strong in-house product teams.
- You can speak confidently to strategy, business impact, and scaling design across products.
Portfolio requirements
- Must have 3–5 case studies that showcase your process and outcomes.
- Work should feel modern, refined, and system-oriented, with clear examples of visual design leadership.
- If some of your strongest work is under NDA but can be discussed live, please note that when you reach out.
