About the company: Our client is a leading technology company seeking a highly experienced Senior Package Designer to create a premium, elevated packaging experience for a flagship hardware product.

About the role: We are looking for a Senior Package Designer to lead the design and development of a new luxury packaging experience for a high-profile technology product. This role requires a strategic and highly conceptual thinker with deep expertise in packaging systems, materials, prototyping, and execution. The ideal candidate brings a refined sensibility for premium consumer experiences and understands how packaging can communicate quality through look, feel, sound, structure, and layered presentation.

Project Goal: Create a distinctive, premium packaging solution for a flagship technology product that delivers a world-class unboxing experience. The work should combine strong creative vision with deep knowledge of materials, fabrication, and production feasibility.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the creative direction, design, and development of premium packaging concepts from ideation through prototype and production-ready execution.
• Create a luxury packaging experience with a highly considered, layered unboxing journey.
• Define and elevate the visual and tactile language of the packaging, ensuring every detail contributes to a premium brand experience.
• Develop innovative structural and graphic packaging solutions that balance aesthetics, function, and manufacturability.
• Present and pitch concepts clearly and persuasively to senior stakeholders.
• Translate strategic goals into compelling design solutions with strong rationale and storytelling.
• Create presentation materials, boards, and mockups to communicate design intent and direction.
• Produce tech packs, CADs, and related documentation to support prototype and production workflows.
• Partner directly with fabrication vendors and prototype shops to develop, test, and refine packaging solutions.
• Drive iterative development with vendors to ensure high-quality prototypes and final output.
• Review materials, finishes, and production details to ensure quality, feasibility, and alignment with design standards.
• Bring a strong point of view on premium packaging trends, materials, and innovation.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in packaging design, brand design, or product packaging for consumer, hardware, luxury, or technology-focused brands.
• Proven experience leading premium or luxury packaging projects from concept through execution.
• Deep expertise in packaging materials, structural packaging, fabrication processes, and prototype development.
• Experience working directly with fabrication printers, prototype vendors, or production partners is required.
• Strong understanding of how packaging design influences perception, usability, and overall product experience.
• Exceptional presentation, communication, and storytelling skills.
• Highly self-directed with the ability to operate strategically and independently.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and related design tools; ability to create clear production documentation.
• Experience with iconic premium packaging standards is strongly preferred.
• NYC-area connections to trusted fabrication or prototype vendors are a plus.
