About Adrastea
Adrastea is a youth-led space medicine and bioastronautics organization working to close the gender and representation gaps in aerospace and space science. We make space science more inclusive, accessible, and representative by connecting research, advocacy, storytelling, and community.
Role Overview:
The Reel Designer/Editor develops short-form video content that makes Adrastea’s science, mission, and advocacy visible and engaging across platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, and LinkedIn. This role combines creative storytelling, visual communication, and platform-aware content development to translate scientific and organizational ideas into compelling short-form videos.
Responsibilities:
- Develop concepts for short-form videos aligned with Adrastea’s mission, campaigns, and content goals
- Create and/or edit Reels, TikToks, and other short-form video content
- Translate space medicine, bioastronautics, gender equity, and related research into accessible, engaging visual stories
- Collaborate with science researchers, writers, designers, and marketing leads to develop accurate and compelling content
- Adapt content for different platforms and audiences
- Develop strong hooks, scripts, captions, pacing, and visual storytelling
- Stay current with short-form video trends, formats, sounds, and editing styles while maintaining Adrastea’s professional identity
- Capture and edit event footage, interviews, talking-head content, behind-the-scenes footage, and educational content when applicable
- Help build a consistent visual and storytelling style across Adrastea’s social media presence
- Review basic content analytics and use performance insights to improve future videos
Preferred:
- Strong interest in science communication, space, women’s health, or social-impact storytelling
- Experience creating short-form video content for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or similar platforms
- Comfortable with video editing software such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar
- Strong sense of pacing, visual storytelling, and what makes content engaging
- Able to communicate complex scientific ideas in a clear, accessible way
- Creative, reliable, and comfortable working independently in a remote team
- Familiarity with social media trends and organic content growth
- A portfolio or examples of previous video work are strongly preferred
You’ll have the opportunity to turn real research, space medicine projects, expert conversations, and organizational initiatives into content that reaches a broader audience. This is a creative role with significant ownership over the short-form video side of Adrastea’s communications.
