🌐 Job Title: Cloud Engineer / Architect (Azure)

📄 Contract Type: 12-month contract (with 2 x 12-month extension options)

📍 Location: Remote (Australia-based only)

🏛️ About the Engagement

Azooa is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer or Architect to support an upcoming federal government project under RFQ IDLH‑04687 with the Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR).

This role is part of a broader digital transformation effort led by the department’s CIO Group. You’ll be contributing to the delivery of high-impact, cloud-native systems that align with Whole-of-Government (WoG) standards and the Digital Service Standard (DSS).

The work is strategic and hands-on: combining architectural design, engineering execution, stakeholder collaboration, and platform governance across Microsoft Azure and M365.

🛠️ Your Responsibilities

As a Cloud Architect / Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • 🏗️ Designing scalable and secure enterprise cloud architectures for Azure and M365
  • 📐 Producing high-level solution designs and detailed technical guidance
  • 📊 Performing impact analysis based on stakeholder requirements
  • ⚙️ Driving automation through CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps tools
  • 👥 Collaborating with product teams, business owners, architects, analysts, developers, testers, and UX designers
  • 🔄 Ensuring solutions align with WoG standards and DSS compliance
  • 🔧 Leading architectural reviews and implementation support across sprint teams
  • 💬 Providing technical mentoring and fostering architectural consistency
  • 🧭 Supporting continuous improvement, innovation, and technology alignment
  • 📝 Documenting architectural artefacts, design decisions, and interface specifications

✅ Essential Criteria

To be considered, candidates must demonstrate:

1. Proven Cloud Expertise

🔹 At least 5 years' experience implementing and managing cloud solutions

🔹 Hands-on knowledge of:

  • Azure Logic Apps
  • Azure SQL
  • Azure Service Bus
  • Azure API Management
  • Azure DevOps and Visual Studio for CI/CD and code management
  • Integration with third-party systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM2. Strong Engineering & Architecture Capability

🔹 Ability to design enterprise and application-level architectures aligned to WoG standards

🔹 Skilled in impact analysis, requirements translation, and engineering guidance

🔹 Experience building scalable, supportable, and secure cloud platforms

3. Agile Team Experience

🔹 Worked in Agile multidisciplinary teams with continuous delivery goals

🔹 Ability to pivot with evolving project scope and delivery timelines

🔹 Familiarity with government digital delivery practices is a strong advantage

4. Cultural Fit & Communication

🔹 Able to work effectively within remote, geographically distributed teams

🔹 Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to bridge technical and business understanding

🔹 Collaborative mindset with the ability to mentor, influence, and support peers

🌟 Desirable Criteria

You’ll stand out with experience in:

  • 👨 💼 Leading architecture across both project and operational settings
  • 🏛️ Designing for large, complex enterprise environments
  • 📦 Application, integration, or infrastructure platform architecture
  • 📊 Producing reference architectures, diagrams, models, and architecture governance artefacts
  • 🕒 At least 3 years of experience documenting and delivering enterprise architecture outputs

🔎 Engagement Details

  • 💼 Contract duration: 12 months initially
  • 🔁 Extension options: Up to two 12-month renewals
  • 🌍 Work arrangement: 100% remote (within Australia)
  • Weekly hours: Up to 40
  • 🔐 Security: Must be eligible to obtain Baseline clearance (sponsorship available)
