We’re partnering with a globally recognised consumer technology company to hire a Product Design Engineer to help shape the future of AI-powered employee experiences.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of product design, front-end engineering, and AI-native interaction design, building next-generation internal tools used by employees and managers at scale.

This is not a traditional UX or graphic design role. We’re looking for someone who can design and build, working directly alongside AI engineers and product teams to create intelligent, human-centred experiences powered by LLMs and agentic workflows.

The role is fully remote, however UK-based candidates must be comfortable working a late-shift pattern with a minimum 3–4 hour overlap with California teams (typically 11am–8pm UK time).

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing and prototyping AI-native employee experiences across onboarding, workforce planning, performance management, and collaboration tooling
• Creating intuitive workflows for non-deterministic AI systems, including conversational interfaces, agents, and multi-step AI interactions
• Working directly in React-based environments alongside engineers, contributing to production-quality UI and component systems
• Extending and adapting an established design language system for AI-powered internal tools
• Designing for trust, ambiguity, user control, and dynamic system behaviour within LLM-powered applications
• Building high-fidelity prototypes using Figma and modern AI-assisted development tooling
• Collaborating closely with AI engineers, product managers, and designers in a highly iterative environment
• Supporting usability testing, workflow validation, and rapid experimentation

Required Experience

• 5+ years within Product Design, Design Engineering, UX Engineering, Front-End Product Development, or similar hybrid roles
• Strong React, HTML, and CSS capability with experience working directly in production codebases
• Advanced Figma expertise, including component systems and design systems work
• Experience designing AI-native, conversational, or agentic product experiences
• Strong understanding of LLM interaction patterns including:
• streaming responses
• multi-turn interactions
• system unpredictability
• AI trust and control patterns
• Experience shipping digital products used by real customers or employees
• Portfolio showcasing both product design craft and technical execution
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills
• Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous product environments

Nice to Have

• Experience with Claude, Codex, or similar AI-assisted development tooling
• Experience designing enterprise productivity or internal tooling platforms
• Exposure to HR tech, workforce tooling, or employee experience platforms
• Formal design systems ownership experience
• Experience working closely with platform engineering or AI infrastructure teams

Additional Information

• Fully remote position
• UK candidates must be comfortable working approximately 11am–8pm UK time
• 6-month initial contract with potential for extension or longer-term opportunities
• Competitive day rate available depending on experience
