Product Designer
Job Description
Posted on: May 7, 2026
About the Role
Careerscape is partnering with a high-growth SaaS company to hire a Junior Product Designer for their U.S.-based, fully remote product team. This is a launchpad role for an early-career designer who wants to grow into end-to-end product design — research, UX, UI, and shipped product — with real mentorship and a clear path to Senior.
You'll work alongside experienced designers, product managers, and engineers on features that ship to real users. You won't be left to figure it out alone: you'll get structured onboarding, weekly design crits, a senior design mentor, and direct exposure to the full product lifecycle from day one.
If you have a strong portfolio, sharp instincts in Figma, and you're hungry to learn how great products actually get built — we'd love to hear from you.
CompensationBase salary: $85,000 – $115,000, commensurate with experience and portfolio
Annual performance bonus: up to 10% of base
Equity: stock options grant for eligible candidates
Estimated total compensation: $95,000 – $130,000+ on-target
Performance reviews every 6 months with merit-based raises and a defined promotion path to Product Designer (Mid) within 18–24 months
What You'll Do
- Design user-facing features end-to-end with mentorship — from early wireframes through high-fidelity UI and developer handoff
- Partner with PMs, engineers, and senior designers to scope problems and ship measurable improvements
- Build clickable prototypes in Figma to test ideas and pressure-test flows before engineering invests
- Support user research and usability testing — running sessions, taking notes, synthesizing findings
- Contribute to the design system by building and maintaining components, patterns, and documentation
- Present your work in design crits and incorporate feedback from cross-functional partners
- Collaborate with engineering through implementation and QA, catching visual and interaction bugs
- Use product analytics and user feedback to learn what's working and iterate
- Stay current on UX trends, accessibility standards (WCAG), and emerging AI-assisted design tools
What We're Looking For
- 0–2 years of professional experience as a Product Designer, UX/UI Designer, or in a similar role (internships, freelance, bootcamp projects, and personal projects all count)
- A strong portfolio that shows your thinking, not just polished screens — we want to see the problem, your process, and the outcome
- Proficiency in Figma, including auto-layout, components, and prototyping
- Solid grasp of UX fundamentals — information architecture, interaction design, usability heuristics, and accessibility basics
- Curiosity about user research and a willingness to talk to real users
- Strong written and verbal communication — you can explain why a design decision was made
- Coachable, dependable, and excited to grow inside a remote, distributed team
- Reliable high-speed internet and a quiet, dedicated home workspace
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Human Factors, or a related field (not required — a strong portfolio matters more)
- Bootcamp, certificate, or self-taught design background with shipped or capstone work
- Internship or freelance experience in B2B SaaS, fintech, consumer apps, or e-commerce
- Familiarity with design systems and component libraries
- Front-end basics (HTML, CSS, or familiarity with React component thinking)
- Experience with AI-assisted design tools and modern prototyping workflows
- Exposure to motion or prototyping tools (Framer, ProtoPie, Rive, After Effects)
- Familiarity with analytics or session-replay tools (Amplitude, Mixpanel, Hotjar, FullStory)
Benefits & Perks
- Competitive base salary with annual performance bonus and equity (see Compensation)
- Fully remote / 100% work from home with flexible scheduling across U.S. time zones
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance — 100% premium coverage for employees
- 22 days PTO, paid sick leave, and 12 recognized holidays
- 401(k) retirement plan with 5% employer match (after 1 year of service)
- $2,000 annual learning and development stipend (courses, books, conferences, certifications)
- $2,000 home office setup budget plus monthly internet/phone reimbursement
- $1,200/year wellness stipend (gym, therapy, meditation apps — your call)
- Company-issued laptop and design tool licenses
- Paid parental leave and mental health support
- Clear promotion path: Junior → Product Designer → Senior → Staff
- Annual team offsite and quarterly virtual team events
- Dedicated senior design mentor from week one
