Summary:
Our company is looking for a Senior Character Artist to join our team of talented developers who collectively pursue the goal of creating high quality, meaningful VR games in an open, honest, and respectful environment.
As a Senior Character Artist you’ll create high quality characters and define pipelines and workflows that push the boundaries of realistic and believable characters in real time VR during our pre-production phase.
Responsibilities:
- Iterate with tech art, animation and engineering teams to define character pipelines and workflows.
- Use concept art and reference to create character models.
- Model and texture high and low poly human characters and outfits that meet technical, animation and design constraints.
- Optimize assets for animation and real time performance.
- Collaborate with designers and gameplay engineers to help define kit bashing for crowds.
- Collaborate with producers on planning and scheduling.
- Collaborate with Reality Labs engineering on adopting new character technologies.
- Support vendors in providing guidance and constructive and clear feedback.
- Support face blendshapes.
Performance Measurement:
- Quality of models and making scheduled due dates
Must-Have Skills:
- Portfolio required
- 5 + years of professional experience as Senior Character Artist on AAA projects.
- Experience creating high quality realistic human models.
- Experience in Zbrush, Maya, Marvelous Designer and Substance Painter.
- Knowledge of human anatomy and form.
- Experience creating modular characters and kitbashing.
- Experience creating realtime hair.
- Experience working in real time engines such as Unity.
- Experience giving and receiving feedback in a highly collaborative environment.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience in VR development.
- Experience in pre-production development cycle.
- Experience with blendshapes and FACS.
- Familiarity with rigging.

Education/Experience:
- Associate's degree in design and/or certificate in graphic design required
- Bachelor's degree in design or related field preferred
- Portfolio based
Pay range is $50 - $55 per hour with full benefits available, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision/life insurance, 401K, parental leave, and more. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
