Location: Remote in USA
Duration: 3+ Months Contract
About the Role:
- We’re hiring a contract motion designer focused on creating branded product experiences using Lottie and Rive. This role will also include UX motion work, particularly system driven animations in collaboration with design systems team. Strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll be responsible for writing clear motion documentation and partnering closely with engineering to support implementation. You’ll collaborate directly with brand experience designers, product teams, and engineering partners to deliver branded in-product motion as well as UI motion to the highest impact areas of the product. You’ll need to have end-to-end experience in motion from concept to technical execution with our engineers and system partners for scalability.
Responsibilities:
- Bringing motion into our brand and visual systems across our products.
- Proficient in working with illustrators and design directors on delivering animated brand assets in 2D/3D, ideation and concept development, working with engineering for implementation across desktop, mobile, and web surfaces – understands constraints of working within product.
- Familiar with systems level thinking and building out scalable motion tokens/guidelines to be reused within Client.
- Technical ability to deliver product-ready motion assets paired with clear documentation for engineering
Candidate Requirements:
- 5+ years of motion design experience, including 2+ years within product teams
- Portfolios must show in-product motion design (not marketing/branding work)
- Experience translating motion into developer-ready specs is important
- Preferred background in tech/product orgs (e.g., Slack, Airbnb, Figma)
Top Skills:
- Focus: Execution of existing motion design work—not strategy
- Collaboration: Close work with product designers, engineers, and PMs
- Candidates with strong portfolios demonstrating product motion design
- Tools: After Effects (required), Lottie/Rive (preferred)
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
A reasonable, good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum hourly wage for this position is $60- $70/hr on W2 (Depending on Experience). Benefits will be available, and details are available at the following links:
