I/O Spark is our generative visualisation platform for design professionals, bridging creative direction and generative AI. Spark is live with active users and shipping features weekly, sitting at the intersection of creative tooling and applied AI for the built environment.

Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Mid-Level Full-Stack Engineer, open to exceptional candidates regardless of location. We are not hiring for headcount, we are hiring for a single strong engineer who can own the full stack, work directly with the founders, and set the technical foundation as the team grows. Responsibilities include shipping features end-to-end across our React frontend and Node.js backend, maintaining AI content generation pipelines built on ComfyUI, managing server infrastructure (Ubuntu, Docker, Nginx, Cloudflare), refactoring rapid-prototype code into production-grade architecture, hardening security across auth, file handling, and API endpoints, setting up CI/CD and monitoring, and shaping engineering culture as we scale. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys moving fast across frontend, backend, and infrastructure, and who can turn a working prototype into a scalable product.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience shipping full-stack web applications in production
• Strong React and TypeScript skills, with a track record of real product code rather than AI-assisted prototyping
• Solid Node.js and Express experience, including REST API design, authentication, and file handling
• Database and cloud storage experience (Auth, Firebase, Firestore, Google Cloud Storage, or equivalent)
• Linux server administration (SSH, Nginx, Docker, process management)
• Clean Git practices and readable, maintainable code
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the autonomy and discipline to thrive in a fully remote, founder-led setup
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience with ComfyUI, n8n, or other AI workflow tooling is a strong advantage
• Python for backend tooling or custom nodes, Canvas API or image processing background, CI/CD and DevOps (GitHub Actions, monitoring, IaC), and a security mindset (JWT, CORS, input sanitisation, secrets management) are all valued
• Prior work on creative tools or design software is highly regarded
• A genuine interest in building creative tools for the design industry, and the ambition to take meaningful ownership of a product with real traction
