🚀 Position: Videogame UX/UI Designer – Neoronin Interactive

📍 Location: Remote Europe – Preferably in Portugal

⏰ Contract Type: Full-Time

NeoRonin Interactive is a young video game development company focused on crafting hardcore

games — experiences that respect the player’s intelligence and time investment.

We aim to deliver deep, complex, and challenging gameplay that demands dedication and

rewards mastery. Our mission is guided by a clear set of principles: prioritizing core gameplay,

embracing complexity, and targeting a committed audience that values skill-based progression

and meaningful challenge.

We are currently developing an operational and tactical combat simulation set in a stylized vision

of future warfare — blending realistic systems with bold design choices. To help us bring this

vision to life, interfaces that bring clarity to complex gameplay systems. This role is ideal for

someone who enjoys designing both the user experience and the visual style of interfaces,

working closely with game designers and programmers to ensure a seamless and immersive

player journey.

Responsibilities

• Design user interfaces for our games, from wireframes and prototypes to final visual assets.

• Help define user experience flows that make complex combat and strategy systems clear and

accessible.

• Collaborate closely with game designers to ensure UI supports gameplay mechanics and

player goals.

• Work with the UI Programmer to guide and review implementation in Unreal Engine.

• Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and UI/UX documentation.

• Conduct user research, playtesting, and usability studies to validate design decisions.

• Create UI animations and transitions (in design tools) that enhance player feedback and

immersion.

• Stay updated on UX/UI trends in the video game industry and apply best practices to our

projects.

How the role works

Work directly with the Game Director and Senior Game Designer to understand game vision,

mechanics, and needs. Rapid prototype user experiences and UI layouts in Figma or prototyping

tool of your choice. Test UI/UX internally and with stakeholders. Analyze user research and

integrate insights into next iteration. Be familiar with double diamond or similar approaches to

iterative design

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience as a UX/UI Designer in video game development.

• Strong portfolio showcasing UI/UX work in games (strategy or simulation experience is a plus).• Proficiency with design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar).

• Solid understanding of usability principles, player psychology, and accessibility in games.

• Experience creating UI animations/motion design prototypes.

• Ability to deliver production-ready assets for implementation by programmers.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to simplify complex gameplay systems.

• Fluent English (written and spoken).

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, namely with game director, engineers and

other stakeholders.

• Strong sense of organization and attention to detail.

• Team-oriented mindset with adaptability to feedback and iteration.

• Proactive approach to improving usability and player experience.

• Ability to work independently in a remote setup while maintaining consistent communication.
